Francis Henry Werner taught himself to play the violin by practicing in the barn of the family farm. He served in the US Army in Fort Sill, Oklahama and later organized a band. He worked as a harness maker until the age of 84. He was a lifelong member of the "Odd Fellows" Fraternal Club for more than 70 years.
